dear tumblr,

I realized that not knowing people when you’re at an event, especially if you’re a minority (ie Asian with a bunch of white people) it gets pretty uncomfortable pretty quick. it’s not like the people are trying to purposely make it uncomfortable for you, it just usually ends up that way because either I’m too shy or I feel awkward.

the best thing to do is to sit around until someone plucks up the courage to come and talk to you, or you go out and talk to people. my suggestions if you want to do the latter is to ask if you’re at the right event or ask whats going on there. do not go up and start hitting on someone of the opposite gender, that does not work. well maybe it does but..

anyways, don’t be afraid to try things out and say yes. opportunities will present themselves, and it’s up to you to seize them.
